William "Will" D. Runck, age 31 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 11, 2010 after a four year battle with a brain tumor. Will was born on November 3, 1978 in Moorhead, MN to Colin and Karen (nee Bromander) Runck. He was a 1997 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Following high school, he went to work as a cook at Ponderosa in Beaver Dam. Will later worked as a chef at Benvenutos in Beaver Dam for many years until his health no longer allowed. He loved hunting, fishing, listening and playing music, learning about nature and the outdoors and his cats. Will was an avid fan of all sports and remained faithful to the Minnesota Vikings, even after the family moved from Minnesota when he was six years old. He enjoyed going on family vacations, which was when he would get to spend time with extended family. In 2008 Will decided to move to Denver for a year, fulfilling a lifetime dream. It was a bold move, especially after his tumor was diagnosed. Will was described as a man that "walked to the beat of his own drum" and that statement truly best describes him. He was very kind hearted, loving and family orientated. Everyone who knew Will will dearly miss him, especially his dry sense of humor.
Will is survived by his father, Colin (Luanne) Runck of Horicon; his mother, Karen (John) Bilitz of Beaver Dam; sister, Kristine (Brandon) Willey of Beaver Dam; a special niece whom he adored, Elora Willey; a nephew, Alexander Willey; paternal grandmother, Ardith Runck of Twin Valley, MN; maternal grandmother, Arla (Russell) Bromander-Kent of Ogema, MN; step-brother, Ryan Bilitz of Beaver Dam; step-sister, Renee Bilitz of Milwaukee and his two cats, Jet and Rocket. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Will is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Chester Runck and his maternal grandfather Kenneth Bromander
