Winston "Mac" D. McMillan, age 85 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

Mac was born on November 24, 1925 in Beaver Dam to Daniel and Helen (nee Taylor) McMillan. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1943 and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mac was united in marriage to Violet Ott on October 29, 1955 at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Lowell. He worked as a layout supervisor at MetalFab.

Mac enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, puttering around the yard and watching auto racing. He liked recalling and sharing stories about his life experiences with others, especially those about the Great Depression and World War II. Mac was a member of Salem Ev. Lutheran Church, where he was an usher and served on the church council. His grandchildren were very important to him, and Mac loved spending time with all of them. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Mac is survived by his wife, Violet of Beaver Dam; his three daughters, Lori (Jan) Molinaro of Enumclaw, WA, Debbie (Carl) Guse of Beaver Dam and Nancy (Jim) Szopinski of Beaver Dam; his seven grandchildren, Angela, Senior Airman Kyle, and Giuliana Molinaro, Natalie and Bethany Guse, Josh and Nick Szopinski; his step-grandson, Erik Manske; his siblings, Elaine (Glenn) Dorn of Beaver Dam, Dick (Pat) McMillan of Beaver Dam and Katie (Tom) Soles of Fond du Lac; his brothers-in-law, Elton (Rachel) Ott of Sun Prairie, Frederick (Dorothy) Ott of Columbus and a sister-in-law Inez McMillan of Beaver Dam. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marge (Wilbur) Quandt; two brothers, Malcolm (Lavita) and Gene (Joyce) McMillan; his sister-in-law, Lorraine (Ralph) Weissmann; three brothers-in-law, Merlin (Dora) Ott, Orville Ott and Vernon Ott and other relatives.

A Funeral Service for Winston will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church, 105 Juneau Rd in Lowell with Rev. Paul Vander Galien officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the church beginning at 12:00 p.m. NOON. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam with graveside military honors. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam. Memorials may be directed to Salem Ev. Lutheran Church.
