[highlight_text] (1948 – 2012) [/highlight_text] James A. “Nimmy” Zimmerman, 63, of Cadott, formerly of Waupun, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Luther Mayo of Eau Claire.

[leftcolumn] Jim was born July 7, 1948 the son of Arthur G. and Mildred Franklin Zimmerman. Jim attended Waupun schools, graduating from Waupun High School in 1966. Following high school, Jim was employed by Waupun Foundry until 1968 at which time he volunteered for the draft and served his country for two years with the US Army. From 1970 until 1972, Jim was employed by Line Clearance Co. On May 13, 1972 he married Margaret “Marge” Gawel. Following their marriage the couple resided in Waupun all their married lives. Marge passed away October 1, 2004. From 1972 until 1981, Jim was employed by Michael’s Pipeline and from April of 1981 through January of 2007 he was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, retiring in 2007. In 2009, Jim moved to Cadott, WI with his lovely friend, Pamela Peterson, whom he married on November 23, 2011. Jim worked for his brother-in-law, Lloyd Peterson of Peterson Affordable Construction of Cadott. Jim was an avid musky fisherman who made baits, an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed camping, playing Blackjack, and spending time with family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pamela Peterson-Zimmerman of Cadott; two sons, Brian A. Zimmerman of Waupun, and Timothy J. Zimmerman of LaCrosse; a daughter, Kari A. Zimmerman of Madison; a step-son, Daniel (Kim) Gindt of Appleton; three step-grandchildren, Kylie, Paige, and Autumn Gindt; a sister, Donna (Butch) Chase of Juneau.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother in 1972; his brother, Brian in 1972; his father in 1989; his first wife, Margaret in 2004; and his father-in-law, Henry Gawel in 2006.
[/leftcolumn] [rightcolumn] [highlight_text] Services: [/highlight_text] Funeral services for James A. Zimmerman will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun with Fr. Michael Wild officiating.

[highlight_text] Burial: [/highlight_text] Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton.

American Legion Post 210 of Waupun will provide military honors.

[highlight_text] Visitation: [/highlight_text] Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. [/rightcolumn]

    Kari and family….our sincere condolences to you and your family. Your dad was a kind man, always took the time to say hi through the back yard. He and Fred didn’t speak often, but when they did they only talked fishing. He made Fred some muskie lures..it was a kind gesture by your dad. You are in our thoughts and prayers…love to all of you!

    Jim was a super person. He had a HEART of gold ! Him and Pam helped my Dad in so many ways…We could never Thank them enough!!! Pam and Jim were so HAPPY,You could see it in their eyes!!! And he would only want happiness for Pam. Pam was always their for him during his short bout of sickness. Another person that has a heart of gold.Thats why they were so very happy. I was so very shocked to hear the sad news. Our family LOST a great person and Jim will be missed by so many! We love you Pam!!!!I Think of you daily and I hope this will get easier for you soon!
